Additionally, Lo is very focused on supporting salon owners and industry leaders in building a solid team, business, and in-house education team. LEAD IN-HOUSE EDUCATION DIRECTOR

Breno is a cutting specialist, barber, and educator with 19 years of experience, including over a decade dedicated to education. He previously served as Cutting Education Director at Licari/Cutler Salon on 5th Avenue in New York City before relocating to Austin, where he became Lead Education Director at Strange Bird Salon. He also co-founded the Strange Bird education program—mentoring and graduating stylists who are now working on the floor. Known for his clean technique and simplicity-driven approach, Breno focuses on precision and fundamentals—teaching stylists how to truly cut hair rather than follow trends or memorize haircuts. His work centers on building confident, adaptable stylists with a strong technical foundation. Having traveled around the country teaching this approach to fortify and mentor cutting specialists, his focus now is teaching salons how to create their own haircutting curriculum. IN-HOUSE EDUCATION DIRECTOR

For the past three years, Kascidy has been devoted to guiding stylists on their cutting journeys, both independently and with the Strange Bird Education team. She loves teaching mod, shaggy, mullet, and bob shapes, using a range of tools, though her signature is straight razor work. She teaches head mapping and diagramming not as rigid formulas, but as flexible frameworks that open creative freedom. She loves teaching because it encourages her to keep learning. She doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel; she simply offers a fresh perspective, whether through a subtle shift in language, a touch of humor, or a different way of seeing the cut. She has taught everyone from seasoned salon owners to students just starting out, and she is especially passionate about helping those who feel nervous about straight razor cutting build confidence starting with feather razor work and expanding their skills. Every step, every class, she hopes to shift perspective and build trust in their craft.

Breezy has been behind the chair for over a decade, specializing in short haircuts that blur the lines between structure and self-expression. Known for her work with razor texture, androgynous shapes, and effortlessly low-maintenance styles, she creates hair that feels as good as it looks—lived-in, wearable, and unapologetically authentic. Her approach to education goes beyond the technical. Breezy teaches stylists how to see the full picture—understanding face shape, texture, and most importantly, the energy of the client in front of them. Her classes focus on building adaptable cutting techniques that empower you to create gender-affirming, boundary-pushing looks with confidence and intention. With a passion for sparking creativity and helping stylists reconnect to why they started, Breezy creates an environment where skill meets intuition. Through her Worlds Collide approach, she guides stylists in mastering the space where barbering and hairdressing blend seamlessly—unlocking new levels of versatility behind the chair. EDUCATOR

Katie is a haircutting educator with 12 years in the industry. She loves teaching the balance of lived-in texture and precise structure. Katie creates a chill and supportive learning environment, so using new tools feels less scary and easy to understand. Her goal is to inspire stylists, help build confidence, and refine their technique using intuition and creativity so they can have a more refined sense of personal artistry. This education is designed for newer stylists and colorists looking to expand their cutting knowledge to better support their color work, and experienced stylists who feel creatively burnt out and are ready to reconnect with their technique, refine their skills, and find renewed purpose behind the chair.

EDUCATOR

Ruby’s focus is working with natural texture with an emphasis on how the hair reacts to the cut (dry cutting and straight razor), learning how to realize your own needs as a stylist, scalp & hair science, and providing an affirming experience for all types of people. Ruby teaches all levels of stylist, specifically the neurodiverse, and those that want their clientele to be representative of their own community. Ruby is inspired by musicians, gay people, weirdos, and Victorian hair art. The idea of getting to learn new things forever was what drew them to the hair industry. They want to add more knowledge to the pool that doesn’t rely on assimilating to a specific beauty standard, work toward a more anti-consumerism salon and education culture, and show people new ways to learn and understand others.

EDUCATOR

Jace has been cutting hair for 14 years and educating for about half that time. His focus is in the intricacies of straight razor cutting, both for beginners and more advanced stylists. He feels it’s super important to know the why behind the how- how changing your blade angle and rotation can affect your finished result. How to change your weight removal technique based on whether you want to make hair small or make hair more voluminous. How your approach and sectioning with the razor can be vastly different from the scissor. How to control and understand growth patterns and density distribution so the section is easy and nothing needs to be forced. How to understand the tool so you can be more efficient and impactful and create haircuts that are easy to live in and grow out well.
